Queen Eggplant

Queen Eggplant was created by the legendary mangaka Osamu Tezuka, often referred to as the godfather of manga. It emerged from his prolific body of work during a period when Tezuka was experimenting with surrealist and whimsical themes alongside his more serious narratives. The story centers on the titular character, blending Tezuka's signature expressive character design with the gentle, absurdist humor that defined much of his shorter-form storytelling.

The design of the character reflects Tezuka's classic cinematic style, utilizing bold lines and rounded features that emphasize personality over hyper-realism. Like many of his works from this era, it was intended to appeal to younger readers while maintaining the sophisticated pacing that made Tezuka a master of the medium. While it remains a deep-cut entry in his vast bibliography, it is cherished by collectors for its rare glimpse into the imaginative, lighter side of the artist's creative process.
