Where it came from
Ryuuou-sama, Kono Kekkon wa Nakatta Koto ni shite kudasai! originated as a light novel series written by Katsuragi Adaka, characterized by its romantic comedy narrative centered on the dynamics of a dragon king. The work emerged from the vibrant Japanese web novel scene, where creators often debut stories on platforms like Shosetsuka ni Naro before securing formal print publication through light novel imprints, in this case with illustrations that lean into the popular fantasy-romance aesthetics of the period.
The narrative follows the familiar tropes of the genre, focusing on high-stakes marital misunderstandings within a mythological framework. Design-wise, the work is representative of contemporary light novel packaging, featuring character-focused cover art designed to appeal to readers of fantasy manga and anime. Since its debut, the series has functioned as a contribution to the saturated market of fantasy romantic comedies, relying on the interplay between the titular dragon king and his reluctant partner to sustain its readership.
