Where it came from
Ryuuroden: Chuugen Ryouran-hen, also known as Legend of the Dragon Son: Central Plains Turbulence Chapter, was created by mangaka Yoshito Yamahara as a direct continuation of his long-running historical fantasy series. Following the conclusion of the original Ryuroden, which followed a young boy named Shiro sent back in time to the Three Kingdoms period of China, this sequel series picks up with the further military and strategic challenges facing the protagonist as the political landscape of the era continues to shift.
Yamahara designed this series to maintain the gritty, tactical, and slightly mystical tone of the original, focusing heavily on accurate historical topography and the intricate power struggles between warlords like Cao Cao and Liu Bei. The series is highly regarded for its deep research into ancient Chinese warfare and logistics, distinguishing itself from other genre entries by prioritizing the strategic adaptation of Shiro's modern-day knowledge within the brutal constraints of the second century.
