Where it came from
Save Me Gently is a poignant work by the Chinese author and illustrator Wei Qi BIBI, emerging from the vibrant landscape of contemporary digital and print webcomics. The series explores themes of psychological depth and emotional fragility, characterized by a distinct, minimalist art style that focuses on the internal world of its characters. It was developed to offer a raw look at personal trauma and healing, finding a dedicated audience among readers who appreciate introspective and unconventional narrative structures.
The design of the work relies on a deliberate balance of stark white space and emotionally evocative linework. By eschewing overly busy panels, Wei Qi BIBI emphasizes the isolation and slow recovery process of the protagonist. Upon its release, the series was received as a significant contribution to the genre of personal web-based storytelling, praised for its ability to convey complex non-verbal cues and shifts in mood through subtle changes in character expression and pacing.
