Where it came from
Save the Earth! is a series created by the South Korean artist Maem, part of a genre of educational and eco-conscious manhwa that gained traction as environmental awareness became a significant theme in youth literature. The work aims to translate complex ecological concepts into an accessible visual narrative, using the signature aesthetic of the artist to engage younger readers in the urgent realities of planetary health.
The design of the series centers on a balance between instructional clarity and illustrative storytelling. Maem’s approach is characterized by a soft, approachable art style that contrasts with the serious subject matter of climate change and biodiversity loss, a stylistic choice intended to prevent reader fatigue while fostering empathy for environmental conservation.
