Scriptores Ordinis Praedicatorum recensiti

Scriptores Ordinis Praedicatorum recensiti, authored by Jacques Quétif and Jacques Échard, is a foundational bibliographical work documenting the writers and intellectual output of the Dominican Order. Conceived in the late 17th century, the project was intended to preserve the heritage of the Order by cataloging the vast theological, philosophical, and historical contributions of its members from the time of Saint Dominic through the early modern period.

The multi-volume work is celebrated for its meticulous scholarship and expansive scope, serving as a primary reference for historians of the Catholic Church. Quétif began the compilation in Paris, and following his death, Échard completed the volumes, utilizing extensive access to ecclesiastical archives and libraries. It remains a hallmark of Enlightenment-era bibliographical practice, prized for its rigorous internal structure and the breadth of primary source material it synthesized.
