Starting Over as a Tree, written by Feihong zhi Ye, emerged within the contemporary landscape of introspective literary fiction. The work is deeply rooted in the themes of existential renewal and the human connection to the natural world, reflecting a shift in the author's narrative focus toward metaphorical storytelling. By framing the protagonist's journey through the lens of arboriculture, the author crafts a contemplative study on growth, patience, and the shedding of one's past identity.
