TALE OF FAIRY TAIL ICE TRAIL: Koori no Kiseki

Tale of Fairy Tail Ice Trail: Koori no Kiseki was produced as a spin-off to Hiro Mashima's globally successful shonen manga series, Fairy Tail. Published in Shonen Magazine R starting in 2015, this two-volume series was crafted to delve into the formative years of Gray Fullbuster, one of the original series' primary protagonists. By focusing on his journey as an apprentice before joining the Fairy Tail guild, the manga provides necessary depth to his ice-magic origins and his complex relationship with his mentor, Ur.

The series was illustrated by Yusuke Shirato, who worked under the direct supervision and creative guidance of Hiro Mashima. Shirato aimed to maintain the high-energy, character-driven aesthetic established in the main series while adopting a slightly more grounded tone to reflect Gray's solitary upbringing in the harsh northern climate. Upon release, the work was well-received by the established fanbase, offering a dedicated look at character development that the fast-paced nature of the main serial often lacked.
