Tales of Xillia 2

Tales of Xillia 2 was released by Bandai Namco Games in 2012 as a direct sequel to the 2011 entry, Tales of Xillia. Developed for the PlayStation 3, the project was part of a push to expand the narrative of the original game by introducing a new protagonist, Ludger Kresnik, and exploring a darker, more consequence-driven branching storyline. The production aimed to refine the series' signature linear motion battle system while emphasizing player choice through a dialogue system that could influence the narrative outcome.

The game's visual identity was overseen by long-time series illustrator Daigo Okumura, who sought to evolve the aesthetic established by Kosuke Fujishima in the preceding title. Upon its release in Japan and subsequent international launch in 2014, the game was generally received as a mechanically superior follow-up to its predecessor, with critics praising its combat depth and emotional weight, though some noted that the reuse of assets from the first title made it feel more like an expansion than a wholly new entry.
