The American Aberdeen-Angus Herd-Book: Containing a Record of Aberdeen-Angus Cattle Approved and Admitted for Registry Under the By-Laws of the American Aberdeen-Angus Breeders' Association, Volume 11

The American Aberdeen-Angus Herd-Book, Volume 11, was compiled and published by the American Aberdeen-Angus Breeders' Association to serve as an official record of cattle lineage. During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the establishment of such herd-books was essential for the systematic development of purebred livestock in the United States, providing a standardized pedigree registry that allowed breeders to track genetic traits and maintain the integrity of the breed.

These volumes were designed as functional, utilitarian reference tools for agricultural professionals rather than aesthetic works. The design focused on clarity and consistency, utilizing structured lists to document the registration numbers, names, and ownership details of individual animals. The publication served as an authoritative archive of the industry's progress during an era when the Aberdeen-Angus was gaining significant prominence in the American beef cattle market.
