The Works of Gilbert Parker Volume 13

The Works of Gilbert Parker were originally published as a multi-volume imperial edition in the early 20th century, reflecting the peak of the author’s popularity as a chronicler of colonial life in Canada. This volume, part of the wider definitive collection of his novels and short stories, was crafted to meet the late Victorian and Edwardian appetite for romanticized historical fiction that emphasized imperial expansion and the rugged landscapes of the North American frontier.

The aesthetic of this collection follows the standard design sensibilities of high-end library sets from the era, characterized by sturdy cloth or leather bindings and elegant typography intended for the private home library. While the specific illustrations vary by edition, the series as a whole served as a testament to Parker's stature as a prominent novelist of his day, though his works have since seen a transition from mainstream popular literature to objects of historical and scholarly interest.
