Tonkaradani Monogatari

Tonkaradani Monogatari, or The Tale of Tonkaradani, is a lesser-known work by Osamu Tezuka, often recognized as the foundational figure of modern manga. Produced during a period when Tezuka was heavily experimenting with narrative structures and anthropomorphic character designs, this series reflects the influence of classic Western animation and the budding visual language of Japanese post-war storytelling.

The work is characteristic of Tezuka’s prolific output during the mid-twentieth century, featuring his signature rounded, expressive line work.
