Wanderers in the Cloudworld

Wanderers in the Cloudworld, originally titled Kumo no Oukoku, was created by the Japanese manga artist Aro Hiroshi. The series emerged during the late 1980s, a period when the manga industry was exploring more experimental and atmospheric science fiction narratives. Hiroshi, known for his unique, somewhat surreal artistic style, crafted this work to explore themes of environmental isolation and speculative technological landscapes, grounding the fantastical setting in a deeply human sense of yearning.

The design of the series reflects a blend of traditional manga aesthetics and the distinct, loose line work that became a hallmark of Hiroshi’s bibliography.
