Where it came from
Rinya's Summer Vacation is a work of doujinshi, or self-published fan literature, created by the professional manga artist Kodaka Kazuma. Following the immense popularity of the 2016 anime series Yuri!!! on Ice, many established mangaka produced unofficial works featuring the show's characters as a way to engage with the vibrant fan community. This piece reflects that cultural phenomenon, where professional creators stepped outside their commercial contracts to explore intimate or lighthearted scenarios within the established universe.
Kodaka Kazuma, known for her distinctive art style and influence in the boys' love genre, brought her characteristic attention to character dynamics to this project. The narrative centers on the series' cast during a summer break, blending established personality traits with the artist's personal creative vision. As with much of the high-quality doujinshi produced in the wake of the show's success, it was distributed primarily at fan-focused events like Comiket in Japan, where it was received by fans as a notable contribution to the expansive Yuri!!! on Ice secondary literature.
