Where it came from
The Donquixote Rosinante card (OP02-108) was released in 2022 as part of the Paramount War expansion for the One Piece Card Game. As a box topper, it was included as a promotional incentive within sealed booster boxes, serving to highlight the emotional narrative arc surrounding the character during the Dressrosa saga of the original manga. The card is mechanically notable for its defensive utility, allowing players to protect other characters from being targeted by the opponent, which reflects Rosinante's self-sacrificial nature in the series.
The design features character art that emphasizes Rosinante's distinct aesthetic, characterized by his patterned coat and iconic facial makeup. The illustration captures his somber, guarded personality, a deliberate choice by the designers to differentiate the card from the more aggressive, combat-oriented character cards in the Paramount War set. Upon release, the card was well-received by players for both its thematic accuracy and its effectiveness in controlling the pace of the game, quickly becoming a staple for those utilizing the Black color archetype.
