Where it came from
Tsuru (OP02-106) was released as part of the Paramount War set, the second expansion for the One Piece Card Game, which debuted in late 2022. This set centered on the pivotal Marineford arc, where the balance of power in the world is drastically altered during the attempt to execute Portgas D. Ace. The card depicts Tsuru, a veteran Vice Admiral of the Marines, whose Wash-Wash Fruit ability allows her to physically flatten and fold enemies as if they were laundry, reflecting her role as a formidable strategist and combatant.
The card was designed to function within the yellow and blue color archetypes, emphasizing tactical control and resource management. The artwork maintains the high-fidelity aesthetic consistent with the card game's collaboration with various illustrators who capture the iconic Eiichiro Oda character designs. Upon its release, the card was well-received by competitive players for its low cost and its effective utility in manipulating hand sizes and board states during the intense, fast-paced matches typical of the Paramount War meta.
