Where it came from
The Enel (OP05-100) card was released in 2023 as part of the Awakening of the New Era expansion for the One Piece Card Game. This set was designed to integrate characters from the Skypiea arc, with the alternate art variant serving as a high-rarity chase card for collectors. The design features Enel in his thunderous manifestation, utilizing a stark, stylized aesthetic that highlights his role as a self-proclaimed god within the series lore.
The illustration was crafted to capture the imposing nature of Enel’s elemental powers, drawing heavily from Eiichiro Oda's original manga character design. Within the competitive community, the card is recognized for its unique 'leader' utility, as it allows players to recover life cards, a mechanic that defined the meta-game during the set's release. Its reception has been largely positive among players for its strategic depth and among collectors for its distinct visual departure from standard card frame designs.
