Where it came from
Foxy, the leader card numbered OP07-059, was released as part of the '500 Years in the Future' expansion for the One Piece Card Game in early 2024. This set draws heavily from the Egghead Arc and the Davy Back Fight arc, reflecting the expansion's focus on introducing diverse characters from various narrative points in the series. The card features Foxy, the primary antagonist of the Long Ring Long Land arc, known for his ability to manipulate time through his Slow-Slow Beam.
The card was designed to highlight Foxy’s gimmick-heavy playstyle, leaning into the disruptive nature of his character design. Illustrated in the vibrant, high-energy style consistent with the One Piece trading card aesthetics, it emphasizes his eccentric appearance and signature fox-themed motif. Upon release, the card was received as a niche technical option for players who enjoy unconventional deck-building strategies, rather than as a primary competitive staple, fitting the game's intent to represent the full breadth of the One Piece character roster.
