The Hack character card is a quintessential component of the Netrunner collectible card game, originally published by Wizards of the Coast in 1996. Created by Richard Garfield, the game was designed to capture the high-stakes, dystopian atmosphere of the Cyberpunk 2020 tabletop role-playing system, placing players in the roles of either megacorporations or rogue hackers competing over valuable data.

The card features the distinct, gritty illustration style that defined the game's early aesthetic, drawing heavily from the dark, neon-soaked visuals of late-twentieth-century science fiction. While the game initially enjoyed a dedicated cult following for its deep mechanics and thematic immersion, it was eventually discontinued, though its legacy endures through the community-led fan project known as Netrunner Android and its subsequent reinvention by Fantasy Flight Games.
