Jesus Burgess

Jesus Burgess, the titanic helmsman of the Blackbeard Pirates, made his appearance in the OP-10 set, titled -ROYAL BLOOD-, released as part of the One Piece Card Game. This set focuses on the power dynamics and royal lineages within the series, positioning characters like Burgess—who represents the brute strength and ambition of his crew—within the established meta-game of the trading card world. The card serves as a tactical representation of his role as the loyal, physically imposing subordinate to Marshall D. Teach.

The design of the card emphasizes Burgess's signature wrestling-inspired aesthetic and his immense muscular build, reflecting the gritty, aggressive nature of the Blackbeard Pirates. Illustrators for the series typically aim to capture the intense, often chaotic energy of Eiichiro Oda's character designs, translating them into a game format that balances high-attack gameplay mechanics with thematic accuracy. Upon its release, the card was received as a functional tool for decks centered on the Blackbeard Pirate faction, appealing to players who favor high-risk, high-reward offensive strategies.
