Where it came from
John Giant, identified as card OP05-044, was released in 2023 as part of the 'Awakening of the New Era' expansion for the One Piece Card Game. This set was designed to commemorate the series' 25th anniversary, drawing heavily from the Marineford and Dressrosa story arcs. The card depicts the towering Marine Vice Admiral John Giant, a character iconic for his immense size and his role as one of the commanders leading the assault during the Summit War.
The card features the distinct, high-contrast digital illustration style standard to the Bandai-Namco trading card series, emphasizing the character's formidable stature and military uniform. By design, the card serves as a thematic inclusion for decks built around the Navy attribute, utilizing his presence to anchor board control. Upon its release, it was received as a staple utility card within the competitive meta, valued by players for its ability to manipulate board states through its specific character ability.
