Where it came from
The Kamakiri card, identified as OP06-102, was released as part of the promotional structure for the Wings of the Captain set in the One Piece Card Game. These pre-release cards serve as commemorative items distributed during organized play events, designed to celebrate the expansion’s focus on characters from the Skypiea arc. By offering foil-stamped versions of core character cards, the developers aimed to reward participants and generate early excitement for the competitive mechanics introduced in the sixth main booster set.
The card features Kamakiri, a member of the Shandorian warriors, captured in an action-oriented illustration consistent with the game's vibrant, high-energy aesthetic. The design team prioritized visual continuity with the anime’s source material while balancing the character's functional utility in the green-aligned control decks of the time. Upon release, it was well-received by players and collectors for its distinct texture and the thematic importance of the Skypiea setting within the broader game ecosystem.
