Kuro (Alternate Art)

The Kuro (OP03-021) leader card was released in early 2023 as part of the Pillars of Strength expansion for the One Piece Card Game. This set was designed to bolster the East Blue saga characters, providing players with new tactical options that centered around the unique abilities of the Black Cat Pirates captain. The inclusion of an alternate art version serves as a centerpiece for the set, featuring premium foil treatments and expanded character illustrations that emphasize the character's calculated, predatory nature within the franchise's lore.

The design of the Kuro card focuses on his 'silent' and high-speed combat style, mirroring his strategic role in the series as a meticulous planner. The artwork, consistent with the stylized, high-contrast aesthetic established by Bandai for the One Piece trading card game, was created to appeal both to competitive players needing a reliable leader and to collectors valuing the dramatic, cinematic framing of iconic manga moments. Upon its release, the card was well-received for its balanced mechanical design, which reward players for managing their hand size and field presence.
