Where it came from
The Morgans card, numbered OP13-093, was released as part of the 'Carrying On His Will' 3rd Anniversary Tournament promotional set for the One Piece Card Game. This set was designed to commemorate the game's third year of operation, serving as a reward for participants in organized play events. The cards in this series were intentionally crafted to feature alternate character portraits that celebrate the expansive roster of the series, catering to both competitive players and series enthusiasts.
The character design for Morgans, the President of the World Economic Journal, retains the distinctive anthropomorphic bird aesthetic established in the source manga. In the context of the game, this card reflects the publisher's strategy of utilizing high-quality, thematic illustrations to drive engagement within the community. The reception of these tournament sets has been characterized by their scarcity and the desirability of the specific character artwork, which often deviates from the standard card art found in core expansion sets.
