Where it came from
Released in the Two Legends expansion set (OP-08) for the One Piece Card Game, this event card draws its title and imagery directly from the iconic speech delivered by Marshall D. Teach, also known as Blackbeard, during the Jaya Arc of the One Piece manga and anime. The card commemorates the series' philosophical focus on the persistence of individual ambition, capturing a pivotal moment where the antagonist asserts his worldview to Monkey D. Luffy.
The card design features artwork faithful to Eiichiro Oda’s established aesthetic, emphasizing the dramatic, shadowy nature of Blackbeard's character. As a game mechanic, the card is designed to integrate into the engine of decks featuring the Blackbeard Pirates, mirroring the character's disruptive and opportunistic strategic style. It was received by the player community as a key thematic addition to the set, highlighting the meta-narrative importance of the series' villains.
