Where it came from
The Sabo Red Super Alternate Art card (OP13-120) was released as part of the Carrying On His Will expansion for the One Piece Card Game. This set draws heavily from the Dressrosa arc, focusing on the legacy of the Revolutionary Army and the bond between the brothers Sabo, Ace, and Luffy. The card serves as a high-rarity chase item, reflecting the game's strategy of utilizing artistic, stylized illustrations to denote special versions of powerful character cards.
The card features an illustrative style consistent with the game's premium alternate art aesthetic, which prioritizes dynamic composition and character-focused portraiture over standard gameplay frames. By utilizing the Super Alternate Art designation, the design team emphasizes Sabo's role as a pivotal, high-impact character. Upon its release, it was received as a centerpiece for collectors of the Revolutionary Army archetype and fans of the series' lore surrounding the Mera Mera no Mi fruit.
