Where it came from
The Portgas D. Ace (OP13-119) card was released as a parallel rarity within the One Piece Card Game set titled 'Carrying On His Will.' The set was designed to focus on pivotal moments and emotional arcs from the series, specifically highlighting characters who leave a lasting legacy. As a parallel card, this version features unique, foil-etched artwork that sets it apart from the standard-issue cards found in booster packs, aiming to capture the intensity and iconic status of the character.
The design of the card utilizes key imagery from the Marineford arc, emphasizing Ace's role in the series' narrative trajectory. Illustrators working for the One Piece Card Game often collaborate with Toei Animation and Eiichiro Oda's editorial staff to ensure that the visual style aligns with the source material's aesthetic. Upon its release, the card was received warmly by collectors and competitive players alike, noted primarily for its distinct artistic flair and its function as a high-rarity centerpiece for players building decks centered around the character's signature abilities.
