Where it came from
The Sanji Alternate Art card from the OP13-027 slot in the Carrying On His Will set reflects the thematic expansion of the One Piece Card Game. Released as part of the game's ongoing effort to celebrate iconic character arcs, this card highlights Sanji’s central role within the Straw Hat Pirates. The design utilizes high-quality, stylized illustrations that diverge from the standard gameplay art, catering to the collector's market by emphasizing the character's signature poise and color palette associated with his post-time skip aesthetic.
The artistic direction for these alternate art variants is overseen by Bandai’s design team in collaboration with various illustrators familiar with Eiichiro Oda’s aesthetic. The goal is to provide a premium, visually striking iteration that captures a specific emotional or narrative moment for the character. Upon release, these cards were well-received by both competitive players for their utility and by collectors for their scarcity and aesthetic appeal, marking them as sought-after chase cards within the set.
