Where it came from
The Shanks card from the Carrying On His Will set was released as part of the One Piece Card Game, a strategic trading card game launched in 2022 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Eiichiro Oda’s long-running manga series. This specific card represents a high-rarity iteration of the character, drawing inspiration from his pivotal role in the series as the Yonko who inspired the protagonist, Monkey D. Luffy, to embark on his journey.
The design emphasizes Shanks' imposing yet enigmatic presence, utilizing high-quality character illustrations typical of the series' official promotional art. It is designed to function as a powerful late-game piece within the game's mechanics, reflecting the character's status as one of the most formidable fighters in the One Piece world. Its reception among collectors has been largely driven by the character's immense popularity and the technical demand for his specific abilities in competitive deck-building.
