Shuraiya (Alternate Art)

Shuraiya (OP06-009) was released in the Wings of the Captain expansion for the One Piece Card Game, which debuted in late 2023. As a character card representing a member of the Bellamy Pirates, it reflects the game's focus on capturing specific narrative arcs from the series, in this case the Jaya and Skypiea chapters. The design choice for the alternate art version prioritizes a more dynamic, stylized illustration of the character, intended to appeal to collectors who value aesthetic variety over standard set visuals.

The card was designed to support the specific mechanical synergies of the Purple color archetype within the game. Artists for this set were commissioned to emphasize the gritty, pirate-focused aesthetic of the source material while maintaining the high-contrast, clean lines characteristic of the One Piece Card Game's visual identity. Upon release, the card was received as a functional addition to mid-range defensive decks, though its primary draw among players remains the rarity and stylistic flair of the alternate art treatment.
