Shuraiya

Shuraiya (OP06-009) was released in early 2024 as part of the 'Wings of the Captain' expansion for the One Piece Card Game. This set was designed to focus heavily on the characters and narrative arcs surrounding the Straw Hat Pirates and their allies, specifically drawing inspiration from the post-timeskip adventures in the New World. The character, a member of the Donquixote Pirates, is depicted here as a defensive staple in the game's meta, chosen for the set to represent the tactical challenges faced by Luffy's crew during the Dressrosa arc.

The card’s illustration follows the signature aesthetic of the One Piece trading card game, utilizing vibrant, high-contrast action art consistent with the series' long-standing animation style. The design emphasizes the character's role as a protector within the gameplay mechanics, utilizing a 'blocker' ability to help players manage the board state. Upon its release, it was noted by players for its utility in red-colored decks, quickly becoming a recognized card for its efficient cost-to-effect ratio in competitive tournament play.
