Where it came from
The Shanks (OP06-007) card was released in 2023 as part of the 'Wings of the Captain' expansion for the One Piece Card Game. This set was designed to spotlight characters from the Wano Country arc and the wider maritime world of the series, with this specific card serving as a high-rarity alternate art variant of the iconic red-haired pirate captain. The art direction emphasizes the character's formidable presence and status as one of the Four Emperors, utilizing a stylized, cinematic approach common to the premium chase cards in the set.
The design of this alternate art card was crafted to appeal to collectors, featuring a distinct visual aesthetic that deviates from standard gameplay versions through its unique composition and premium foiling. Upon its release, it was widely praised within the trading card game community for its striking character portrait and the overall high production quality associated with the Bandai Namco TCG line, quickly becoming a focal point for players seeking to represent the Red-Haired Pirates in their decks or collections.
