Where it came from
The Smoker (P-025) card was released as a promotional item during the early launch phase of the One Piece Card Game, which debuted globally in 2022. These pre-release cards were distributed at official demonstration events and tournaments to incentivize players to learn the game mechanics and build community engagement. By featuring a popular character from the series, the card served as a tangible bridge between the long-running manga franchise and the strategic complexities of the new trading card system.
The card’s design reflects the stark, high-contrast aesthetic characteristic of the One Piece card set, emphasizing the rugged personality of the Marine Vice Admiral. The artwork aims to capture Smoker’s intimidating presence and his signature Logia-type abilities, aligning with the visual standards established by Bandai for its core collectible card games. Upon release, these promotional cards were well-received by collectors and competitive players alike, primarily due to their limited availability at launch events and the functional utility of the character card within the game's evolving meta.
