Where it came from
The Three Sword Style Oni Giri card was released as part of the Paramount War expansion for the One Piece Card Game, which debuted in late 2022. This specific card represents a foundational combat technique used by the character Roronoa Zoro. The set was designed to capture the intensity of the Marineford arc, translating iconic manga panels into a strategic, competitive tabletop experience that emphasizes resource management and character synergy.
The art features a stylized illustration of Zoro performing his signature move, characterized by dynamic linework and a vibrant color palette consistent with the aesthetic of the series' animation studio, Toei. As a Pre-Release event card, it served as a promotional bridge between the game's initial launch and the wider release of the second booster set, intended to engage players during organized play events and establish the high-speed tactical flow that defines the game's current meta.
