Yamato

The Yamato [ST09-001] leader card was released in 2023 as the centerpiece of the One Piece Card Game Starter Deck: Side Yamato. This deck was designed to introduce players to the mechanics of the Yellow color identity, focusing on the life-recovery and trigger-based playstyles associated with the Wano Country arc of the series. The card features the character Yamato, a pivotal figure in the later stages of the Wano narrative, presented with artwork that emphasizes their distinct Oni-inspired aesthetic and connection to the legendary Kozuki Oden.

The design of the card utilizes the game's standard leader frame, prioritizing readability and clear mechanical icons to suit its role as the foundation of a deck. As a card intended for mass-market retail, its visual presentation reflects the established art style of the trading card game, which draws heavily from Eiichiro Oda's original manga illustrations. Upon its release, it was well-received by players for providing a competitive and accessible entry point for those looking to explore Yellow deck strategies in the evolving meta.
