Where it came from
The Yamato card (EB02-006) was released as part of the Extra Booster: Memorial Collection (EB-02) for the One Piece Card Game. Introduced as a high-rarity variant within this set, the card features the popular character Yamato from the Wano Country Arc, rendered with unique foil treatments or serialization to signify its status as a collector's item. The card game itself launched in 2022, designed by Bandai to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Eiichiro Oda's long-running manga series, blending strategic mechanics with iconic artwork drawn directly from the source material.
The artistic direction of the One Piece Card Game leans heavily on established manga aesthetic, utilizing dynamic panels and character portraits that resonate with the established fanbase. The Yamato card, specifically, captures the character's fierce Oni princess persona and iconic club, Kanabo, reflecting the high-energy battles of the series. Upon release, the card was well-received by competitive players and collectors alike, noted for its utility in gameplay and its visual fidelity to the original anime illustrations.
