Where it came from
The Yamato (OP01-121) card was released in 2022 as part of the Awakening of the New Era expansion for the One Piece Card Game. This set served as the foundational launch for the game, aiming to translate the expansive world of Eiichiro Oda's long-running manga series into a tactical tabletop experience. Yamato, a pivotal character introduced during the Wano Country arc, was selected as one of the set's flagship Secret Rare parallels, highlighting the character's importance in the series narrative.
The design of the card utilizes high-contrast character art typical of the game's early aesthetic, emphasizing Yamato's iconic club and distinctive traditional attire. By employing an SP (Special) foil treatment, the developers sought to create a premium collectible that would appeal to both competitive players and fans of the franchise. Upon release, the card was widely received as a centerpiece of the collection, valued primarily for its scarcity and the high level of detail in its holographic finish.
