Where it came from
The Yamato P-008 card was released as a promotional item for the One Piece Card Game, debuting in the initial wave of Tournament Packs. It was designed to celebrate the character's popularity following the Wano Country Arc, serving as a reward for participants in early organized play events, which helped establish the competitive landscape for the game after its launch in late 2022.
The artwork features Yamato in a dynamic, illustrative style consistent with the broader aesthetic of the One Piece trading card series, which emphasizes vibrant, high-energy character portraits. As part of the first volume of promotional releases, it was intended to incentivize player engagement at local game stores, eventually becoming a sought-after piece for collectors focusing on the character's key appearances in the early meta.
