Where it came from
Eri was released in the Temporal Forces expansion of the Pokémon Trading Card Game, which debuted in early 2024. As a Supporter card, it features a character from the Scarlet and Violet video games, specifically the Team Star member specializing in Dark-type Pokémon. The card was designed to reflect the game's mechanics of disrupting an opponent's strategy by revealing their hand and discarding Trainer cards, a utility that captures the rebellious and disruptive nature of the Team Star organization.
The illustration is credited to designer Megumi Mizutani, who has been a consistent contributor to the series. The aesthetic aligns with the broader Scarlet and Violet art direction, utilizing bold, clean lines and dynamic poses to emphasize the personality of the character. Upon release, the card was received primarily as a niche tactical inclusion for competitive play, noted for its specific utility in decks capable of controlling the flow of high-tier tournament matches.
