Where it came from
Girafarig (065/185) was released in November 2020 as part of the Vivid Voltage expansion for the Pokémon Trading Card Game. This set is notable for introducing the Amazing Rare card mechanic and focusing on the Mythical Pokémon Zarude. Within the mechanics of the game, this card serves as a standard Uncommon rarity entry, designed to bolster the psychic-type options available to players during the Sword and Shield era of the game's competitive cycle.
The card features an illustration by Kouki Saitou, a long-time contributor to the Pokémon TCG franchise known for his approachable and clean aesthetic. Saitou’s design for this Girafarig captures the creature's dual-type thematic roots, emphasizing its unique silhouette and psychic energy. As an uncommon card, it was widely distributed in booster packs, aiming to provide players with accessible, functional gameplay pieces that reflect the visual charm typical of the series' core artistic direction.
