Where it came from
The Giratina card numbered 62/135 was released in the Plasma Storm expansion of the Pokémon Trading Card Game, which debuted in early 2013. This set was part of the Black & White series, centering on the Team Plasma narrative arc where the villainous organization utilized technologically advanced Pokémon to challenge trainers. As a psychic-type card, this Giratina release leans into the eerie, spectral lore surrounding the Renegade Pokémon, which was originally introduced in the Generation IV games to inhabit the Distortion World.
The artwork for this specific card was rendered by artist 5ban Graphics, a prolific studio known for producing 3D-modeled illustrations for the Pokémon Trading Card Game during the Black & White era. The design aesthetic follows the distinct CGI-inspired style common to that period, focusing on a clean, sharp representation of the legendary creature. Upon its release, the card was received primarily as a playable Rare tier asset, valued by collectors for its role in completing the Plasma Storm set rather than for extreme market scarcity.
