Lotad

The 2015 McDonald's Pokémon collection was released as part of an ongoing promotional partnership between The Pokémon Company and the fast-food chain. This specific set was distributed in North America, featuring twelve cards that showcased various Pokémon species, often utilizing artwork previously featured in Japanese expansions or special promotional sets. The initiative was designed to increase brand engagement among younger diners by integrating the collectible card game with the restaurant experience, providing a accessible entry point for new players and collectors.

The Lotad card, designated 2/12, features the Grass-type Water-weed Pokémon in a static, clear illustrative style consistent with the wider set's aesthetic requirements for readability and appeal to children. Like other cards in the 2015 McDonald's series, it utilizes a specific holofoil pattern that distinguishes it from standard expansion releases. While not intended as a competitive staple in the official Trading Card Game meta, the card serves as a notable example of promotional TCG design, favoring character clarity and simple gameplay mechanics.
