Where it came from
The 2015 Pokémon McDonald's Collection was released as a promotional tie-in, distributed within Happy Meal boxes across various international markets. This specific set was designed to align with the release of the Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire video games, which featured the Hoenn region starter Pokémon. As a promotional release, these cards were intended to be accessible entry points for younger collectors rather than standard expansion cards.
The Torchic card, numbered 3/12, features artwork consistent with the aesthetic of the era's promotional releases, focusing on dynamic poses that highlight the fire-type nature of the subject. While these cards utilized designs from existing sets, they were distinguished by a unique holographic treatment exclusive to the McDonald's promotion. Reception was largely characterized by the nostalgia of the Hoenn region and the accessibility of the collection for casual fans of the franchise.
