Where it came from
Magnezone first appeared as a Rare Shiny card in the Hidden Fates expansion, released in 2019 as a special subset of the Sun & Moon era. This set was notable for its inclusion of the Shiny Vault, a collection of unique, alternate-color Pokémon rendered with a distinct, textured aesthetic that diverged from standard card designs. The inclusion of Magnezone in this set reflected the ongoing effort by The Pokémon Company to celebrate the visual evolution of the series by highlighting the aesthetic rarity of shiny variants.
The card features the signature illustration style associated with the Sun & Moon Shiny Vault, focusing on a vibrant, metallic color palette that complements the card's Steel-type classification. The illustration emphasizes the geometric design of Magnezone, utilizing the holographic foil patterns inherent to the Hidden Fates set to accentuate its magnetic components. As part of a highly sought-after subset, the card was received with enthusiasm by collectors who prioritized the aesthetic prestige of the Shiny Vault's non-standard rarity tier.
