Where it came from
The Palkia card, numbered 020/128, was released as part of the Pokémon 30th Anniversary celebratory collection. This set was designed to commemorate three decades of the franchise, acting as a retrospective that highlights iconic legendary Pokémon. By utilizing the water-type classification, the card pays homage to Palkia’s origins within the Sinnoh region's mythos, where it is known as the deity of space.
The design of the card reflects the aesthetic standards of the commemorative series, focusing on a clean, modern frame that centers the artwork of the Spatial Pokémon. It was illustrated to evoke the grand scale of the creature's lore, emphasizing its formidable presence. Upon its release, the card was well-received by collectors who value it as a thematic piece that bridges the history of the game with the aesthetic refinements of contemporary card production.
