What it does
Once during your turn (before your attack), if Pichu is anywhere under Pikachu, you may search your discard pile for a Lightning Energy card, show it to your opponent, and put it into your hand. This power can't be used if Pikachu is affected by a Special Condition.
Flip a coin. If heads, this attack does 20 damage plus 10 more damage.
It lives in forests with others. It stores electricity in the pouches on its cheeks.

Where it came from
The Pikachu card from the Mysterious Treasures expansion was released in 2007 as part of the Diamond & Pearl era of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. This set was designed to introduce the Sinnoh region's mechanics to the game, focusing on a shift toward strategic depth and the integration of new gameplay elements like Pokémon powers and specific energy interactions. The card features artwork by illustrator Kouki Saitou, who opted for a clean, vibrant aesthetic that emphasizes Pikachu's energetic character within the context of the updated card borders introduced in that generation.
As a common card within the set, this iteration was intended to be widely accessible to players and collectors alike, serving as a staple representation of the franchise's mascot. The reception of the Mysterious Treasures set was generally positive among the competitive community, as it offered balanced support for various archetypes. Saitou's illustration is often noted by collectors for its simple, classic composition, which contrasts with the more elaborate and experimental card designs that would become more frequent in later expansions.
