Provenance

Where it came from

The Psyduck card from the Fossil expansion was released in 1999 as part of the second major set of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. Following the immense global success of the Base Set, the Fossil expansion was designed to introduce Pokémon originally discovered in the prehistoric caves of the Kanto region, expanding the strategic diversity of the game with new water, fighting, and psychic types.

The artwork for this card was created by Kagemaru Himeno, a prominent illustrator in the early history of the Pokémon TCG. Himeno's design captures Psyduck's signature bewildered expression, emphasizing its psychic headache and goofy disposition. The card was widely distributed in booster packs and theme decks, becoming a staple for players building water-themed decks during the late nineties.
