What it does
Whenever you attach a Lightning Energy card from your hand to Raikou, if your opponent has any Benched Pokémon, he or she chooses 1 of them and switches it with the Defending Pokémon. This power stops working while Raikou is Asleep, Confused, or Paralyzed.
Flip a coin. If tails, Raikou does 20 damage to itself.
The rain clouds it carries let it fire thunderbolts at will. They say that it descended with lightning.

Where it came from
The Raikou card from the Neo Revelation expansion was released in 2001 as part of the second generation of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. This set was designed to introduce players to the legendary beasts of the Johto region, featuring artwork that emphasizes the electric-type nature of the Pokémon. The set marked a transition in the game's aesthetic, moving toward more atmospheric and painterly illustrations that captured the mythical status of these creatures.
The illustration for this specific card was crafted by Hironobu Yoshida, a long-time contributor to the Pokémon TCG. Yoshida aimed to depict Raikou in a dynamic, high-energy pose, utilizing the classic holographic foiling process to enhance the visual representation of electrical currents. Upon its release, the card was well-received by players and collectors alike for its striking artwork and its utility in competitive play, solidifying its place as a quintessential example of the Neo-era card design.
