Where it came from
Tauros 62/130 was released in 2000 as part of the Pokémon Base Set 2, a compilation set published by Wizards of the Coast. Designed to re-release key cards from the original Base Set and Jungle expansion for players who had missed earlier opportunities, the set provided a condensed experience for the growing TCG community. It served as a bridge during a period of immense popularity, ensuring that foundational Pokémon remained accessible for competitive and casual play.
The artwork for this card was created by Ken Sugimori, whose distinctive, clean style defined the visual identity of the early Pokémon franchise. By depicting Tauros in a dynamic, charging pose, the illustration captures the essence of the Normal-type Pokémon's temperament. Within the context of Base Set 2, the card maintained its uncommon rarity, consistent with its status as a reliable, mid-tier utility card in the early card game meta.
