Bed Bug Boogie / Do And Don’t Blues

Released in the early 1950s by the independent Hu-Se-Co Record Company, this 78-rpm disc represents a niche corner of the postwar rhythm and blues landscape. Based in Nashville, Tennessee, the label was operated by Hugh-Se-Co owner Hugh P. Sneed, who focused on capturing regional talent that often blended traditional blues structures with the upbeat, novelty-leaning arrangements popular in jukebox circuits of the era.

The recording features the duo Bill & Bink, a pair whose output remains largely obscure to broader music history. Their approach on this release leans into the lighthearted, rhythmic storytelling typical of jump blues performers during that transitionary period. The design and production reflect the utilitarian, no-frills aesthetic of small-market independent labels, which often relied on straightforward pressings to get local tracks into the hands of regional DJs and record store owners.
